Misiones De Kino is very unique restaurant, because of its prior history as one of the early Baja missions built in the late 1800's. The original mission has been persevered to represent our quaint and cozy bar, where you can sit and visualize what Cabo was like more than a hundred years ago. The literature on the original mission is very sparse, but according to the native Mexicans this mission was one of the first in Cabo San Lucas. Back when the mission was built, each mission needed to be a days walking distance from one another. Misiones De Kino is a little piece of history for Cabo San Lucas.

Israel Vazquez Sanchez owner and creative head chef is originally from Veracruz, one of the oldest ports in all of Mexico. He came to Cabo San Lucas in 1996 to pursue his dream of opening a unique and special restaurant. His vision was to unite Mexican, Italian, Spanish and seafood dishes together to create a true culinary experience that would awaken your senses. Misiones De Kino was opened one year later in 1997, when Cabo San Lucas was just a quaint quiet fishing village , where you could bring your fresh caught fish of the day, and have it prepared with his secret recipes. Many years later we still offer and enjoy carrying on this tradition for our local and visiting sport fisherman.

One of the growing traditions Misiones De Kino is well-known for is “Israel’s Secret Garlic Sauce” also known as Chilpalla Sauce. Israel wanted to create a sauce that no other restaurant could offer, one that would be his signature in Cabo San Lucas. Imagine a sauce that is a bold and daring mixture of garlic, chilpalla, and herbs in a white cream sauce. This divine creation can be delicately smothered over fresh fish, shrimp, scallops, octopus, crab, chicken and even pasta. It is the most sensual taste you will experience in all of the Baja.

Israel and his team are not only masters of exquisite cuisine, they also make the best Margarita’s in town using only the freshest ingredients. If you are bored with the Lime Margarita order a fresh Mango, or Strawberry Margarita. One of our most popular specialty drink is the Misiones Mojito, you haven’t had a real Mojito until you have tried the Misiones Mojito.
